Clothes, make-up and edginess...?? *sigh*?

Ok I got a whole bunch of questions...so here it goes.

Firstly...how in the world do you match your make-up to your outfit...I never seem to get it right!! Coz I'll feel like wearing one type/colour outfit and completely different style of make-up. Is there some sort of rule for this? Should make-up match clothes in colour?

Secondly, I would love to wear edgy make-up (esp. eye-shadow) from time to time (think Urban Decay) but I'm not emo/punk/goth/glam rock. Not even brunette :P I've got blue eyes, fair skin and medium blonde hair and it seems to me that all the models used for these looks are at least brunette if not punk or goth. I feel like I'm gonna look like emo Barbie if I try one of those looks. So please give me some suggestions on colour combination for my appearance or some styles of make up I can try...

anything appreciated :)

Thanks

never ever match your eyeshadow to your clothes. NONONO. sorry, used to do it too. bad. lol.

you have the same features as me, so i will tell you some tricks:)!

-wear any colour eyeshadow of brown. this looks great, so does stone colours. Pastels are ok for going out, but no bright crazy colours.

-if you buy liquid liner, rim just the sides on the top and wing it out a tiny bit, its edgy but cute :)also buy it in dark brown or brown, you cant tell the difference when people look at you, but it looks better than black.

-urban decay is great, they're blue shimmery liner is great, :) line the top and the bottom (optional)

-start with simple eye makeup. then slowly transition into heavier edgyer makeup if you want

-since (we) have fair skin, even a little more makeup added can look very, overwhelming. dark blue eyeshadow can be very overwhelming too. try a little at first. navy eyeliner looks great though!

-take off days, dont go all out with the makeup every day.

hope i helped !:)

the best thing to do is experiment! work out what colours and styles work best for you....maybe go to a department store and ask for some make-up tips, or get together with your girlfriends and give each other make-overs....if you play around with different styles and colours, you'll find something that works for you.

But until then....(and since you mentioned Urban Decay lol)...why don't you try these? they're edgy enough to make your eyes stand out....but wont make you look like something your not (i.e. emo / punk / goth / glam rock) all you need is to line your eyes with the colour(s) of your choice, some black mascara...try to keep any colour on your cheeks and lips neutral....and your done :)

Hope this helps...good luck....keep experimenting, have fun!

If you love Urban Decay (and it is amazing) and edgy looks, who cares what other people think? Wear what you love and you'll be the authentic you, not someone trying to fit into a certain mould. Makeup has been dramatic the last little while, even quite dark for normal spring looks, everything is about bright pinks and blues and violets this year. I don't know if you saw any pics from the Fall shows, but it is dark, dramatic and edgy again. So you are definitely on trend.

You don't need to match your makeup to your outfit, just match styles. Don't be all crazy smoky and then put on your yoga pants. If you have an edgy look, make sure you are wearing clothes that can pull it off. Colorwise, you want to make sure your makeup doesn't clash with your look (pink lips with orange shirt) but nothing more matchy than that.

Check out this new palette from Pop http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jh... it looks very fun! Be true to yourself and I'm sure you look great.
